Outkast hasn’t really been part of the music conversation lately, despite the consistent studio work from Big Boi since the Atlanta duo’s Idlewild album in 2006. With the success of N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton, could a movie delving into the background of Outkast enjoy the same kind of success?

Big Boi joined current collaborator Phantogram for a Reddit AMA which gives fans a rare chance to ask popular artists pointed questions. One savvy fan had the good sense to ask Big Boi if an Outkast biopic would ever happen considering everyone’s buzzing about Hip-Hop backstories these days.

Big Boi told the fan that, “Me and ‘Dre were just discussing this Labor Day Weekend. Stay tuned.”

That’s huge news for fans of the duo although it doesn’t immediately satisfy the hopes of many that they’ll reunite to make music again. However, just how great would it be to see their story unfold on the big screen?

There’s a lot of mystery surrounding the group, most especially their distance over the years.  But as the AMA shows, Andre 3000 and Big Boi are still close pals so hopefully this materializes into more.
