A Tribe Called Quest has remained one of Hip-Hop’s most influential groups and still hold sway over fans both young and old despite having not released material as a collective since 1998. This coming November, the quartet will celebrate 25 years since the release of their debut album, People’s Instinctive Travels And The Paths of Rhythm, by re-releasing a special edition.
The announcement came today via A Tribe Called Quest’s website, featuring a slickly-produced video to prepare listeners for what’s to come. With expert design from FWMJ, the announcement and connected video is all the incentive fans should need to open up their wallets and pre-order the project ahead of its release.

A Tribe Called Quest and Sony Legacy have announced a special 25th-anniversary edition collection of the group’s classic debut album People’s Instinctive Travels And The Paths of Rhythm will be released on November 13th. In celebration of the 25th anniversary, the album will be remastered from the original tapes by Grammy-Award winning engineer Bob Power, and re-released with exclusive new remixes by a few of today’s biggest hip-hop artists who have credited A Tribe Called Quest as a major creative influence. Remixes will be announced in the coming weeks. This album will mark the debut release in a series of re-releases by A Tribe Called Quest over the course of the next few years.

People’s Instinctive Travels And The Paths of Rhythm was released in 1990 during an interesting turning point in Hip-Hop. Jazz and other obscure samples made up the bulk of Tribe’s backing tracks, and the distinctive vocals of Q-Tip and Phife Dawg resonated immediately. Although the childhood friends from Queens have since gone their separate ways, the body of work they’ve produced together has lasted the test of time.
