We’re assuming Derrick Rose’s rehab from knee surgery is long past the halfway point, as far as his return to checking into an NBA basketball game. Nevertheless, his adidas signature shoe is getting a midway redux with the now officially unveiled D Rose 3.5.
The D. Rose 3 dropped in September 2012 but the D Rose 3.5 is touted as having “improved performance, bolder style and more personal details.”
“My main thing is always sharpening up my game and improving my body and with the D Rose 3.5 adidas took that same approach,” said Rose via a press statement. “This shoe takes the best things from my last shoe and made them even better. I’m more comfortable and supported on the court and bringing some real serious style too.”
Says adidas:
The synthetic leather upper features the spiral protruding from the D Rose logo on the ankle to represent how his on and off-court success continues to grow from the support of his family, who inspired the logo. Chicago call-outs on the inside of the tongue showcase the essence of Rose, including a “Rooted in Chicago” graphic with lettering, colors and shapes inspired by his tattoos and the Chicago flag. The oversized tongue features a reflective overlay of the logo to illuminate and pop on and off the court.
The shoe is still tailored to Rose’s game, just even more so that its predecessor. The SPRINTWEB tech in the upper provides support and breathability while the SPRINTFRAME includes an external heel counter that reduces weight. Aesthetically, the spiral pattern seen in the shoe is a homage to the All-Star point guard still seeking to tighten up his game.
The adidas D Rose 3.5 will be available in home and away colorways on January 31, and will retail for $160. There will be six more colorways by April. Check out the detailed photos of Rose’s latest signature shoe in the gallery.
Hopefully we’ll get to see him hoop in these sooner than later.
