Frank Ocean has been in the news lately for all of the wrong reasons today. However, he headed to the desert with a few of his friends to shoot a video for “Forrest Gump.”
“Forrest Gump” is a controversial pick for the next single off of his Grammy-nominated project, channel ORANGE. Ocean debuted this song live, which first led people to question his s*xuality with lyrics like “you run my mind, boy.”
However, the song is sung from the perspective of Jenny Gump; Forrest’s love interest in the movie Forrest Gump. When Ocean sings “I saw your game Forrest, I was screaming run 44,” he’s referring to the scene where Tom Hanks’ character returns a kickoff for a touchdown and straight out of the arena.
As far as this shoot, it takes place in an undisclosed location with Ocean’s friends and a throng of cheerleaders wearing red “Crimson Tide” themed cheerleader outfits just like the team Forrest played for in the movie.
With nothing but an open road ahead of him, it looks like there will be a lot of running in this one. Ocean will be performing at the Grammy Awards, February 10th on the CBS Network. Check out the photos from the video shoot down after the jump.
