Jordan Brand announced last month the impending arrival of the legendary hall of famer Michael Jordan’s latest signature shoe, the Air Jordan XX8 (28). To help commemorate the release of the high-end sneaker, the Jumpman team gets Hip-Hop legends Big Daddy Kane and DJ Premier together for the track “28 Bars Of Kane.”

Opening with Primo’s signature hard drums and a chunky bass line, King Asiatic goes for broke from the onset. “On the streets of Brooklyn, you see this kid lookin’/Tight in his MJs, white and cement gray/You’re sure to see a pair with Jordan 3’s/Now, you wanna talk legendary, talk to me,” he raps. “Some break records so no one forget ‘em/But we don’t break records, we the ones to set ‘em/What’s in a legend but cuttin’ egde and perfection/With one obsession for stayin’ on the top of his profession.”

Big Daddy Kane sounds sharp as ever and while Primo’s track lacks the customary cut-and-splice hook we’ve grown accustomed to, it’s a quick and fun pairing of two legends in the game. Kudos goes to Kane for dropping an exact 28 bars to match with the number of official models of the shoe as well, which he expertly mentions in the conclusion of the song.
