The New Balance 574 may be a classic lifestyle sneaker, but it’s still a performance shoe at heart. Through the years the easily recognizable silhouette has been dipped in an assortment of colors, the latest being a bright set of hues for the Windbreaker Collection, which also boasts some tech upgrades.
For Spring 2013 you get four colorways (black/purple/red, blue/grey/black, yellow/gray/navy blue and red/grey) of the NB 574 outfitted with a textiled, ripstop like upper. The Encap midsole that provides cushioning is still there. Beyond aesthetics, more profound updates include a higher instep in the midsole, deeper toe box and a wider forefoot. There is also a tighter fit around the heel, which is probably important if you plan to actually jog in these.
All the kicks are available on Foot Locker now for a very reasonable $75 a pop.
