If you’re a dark-skinned male living in Boston, you may have to be a bit more wary than usual. CNN has been criticized for describing a suspect in the bombing near the finish line of the Boston marathon as “dark-skinned male.”
Says The Grio:
CNN correspondent John King reported authorities had identified a suspect of the Boston Marathon bombing as a “dark-skinned male” yesterday afternoon.
This controversial description of an alleged suspect is receiving backlash from the African-American community.
The National Association of Black Journalists has released an official statement in response to King’s physical description of a person of interest, calling it “offensive”:
This is where we mention that there were also conflicting reports that said the suspect was a “white male,” but also included a description of his attire.
