Miguel want to set the record straight. The R&B singer is refuting reports that he was instructed by the producers of the Billboard Music Awards not to try his ill-fated leap across a pit of fans.

By now you know that Miguel failed to clear a fan named Khyati Shah, resulting in his leg sending her head crashing against the stage. Yesterday (June 4), the fan in question’s lawyer hinted that she may have suffered brain damage, although her medical test results have not returned yet. Then, late in the day TMZ reported that Billboard Music Award producers claimed they told the “Adorn” singer not to attempt his jump, saying it was too risky.

Miguel didn’t take too kindly to getting thrown under the proverbial bus, tweeting, “don’tbelievethehype.” Today, his press reps commented on the incident directly as well as commentary that he didn’t care about .

“The reports claiming that Miguel was warned by producers not to jump are completely false,” read the press statement. “A number of attempts were made to reach Khyati and her lawyer after the performance to see how she was doing and whether any assistance could be offered.  Khyati’s wellbeing has been and continues to be of the utmost concern to Miguel.”

The plot thickens. Let us know your thoughts on this matter in the comments.
