R&B is a genre that ordinarily caters to love, sensuality, and all of the other things one experiences when in a relationship. But there’s another side to these emotional, lovey dovey tunes that selected artists have made there bread and butter.
That would be those who flourish when singing about all things s-xual, raunchy and topics of the like. This has always been a piece of R&B, but in the last 25 years, a bevy of artists have built full blown careers on this brutally honest music.
We assume that there has to be a certain freedom in being able to say exactly what many men think on wax. Not to mention how much better these otherwise inappropriate lyrics go over because they are being sung rather than rapped.
In any case, see a list of 10 individuals — young and old — that have shown a mastery of that lane.

Ty Dolla $ign
Though the California native is a newcomer, his Beach House 2 mixtape lets us know the lane he’s looking to play.
Marvin Sease
This is certainly the OG of the list, and he by far is the Obi Wan Kenobi of this ish. Also, one of his records is titled “Candy Licker,” just so you know.
Jodeci
K-Ci, JoJo, Devante, and Dalvin probably had your favorite auntie lusting over their jams. Sorry you had to find out like this.
Nate Dogg
The West Coast legend was less raunchy than his list mates, but he sang the things that MCs rhymed, candidly.
H-Town
The Houston group were discovered by Luke “Uncle Luke” Campbell and their staple track is “Knockin’ Da Boots.” That should tell you enough.
Trey Songz
Trigga Trey revels in the fact that he could very well take your woman and give her back. It’s a cold game.
Bobby Brown
It was Robert Barisford Brown’s prerogative to be as audacious as possible with the lyrics and in performances. Check is discography.
Pretty Ricky
We challenge you to find five wholesome records in the Florida quartet’s three album catalog.
The-Dream
“Purple Kisses” and “P***y” rest comfortably on many “strictly business” playlists, if you catch our drift.
R. Kelly
Kells is the heir apparent of this whole operation. Case closed. Does 12 Play ring a bell?
