Hip-Hop can always count on Lupe Fiasco to create a dialogue around topics commonly considered taboo. This time, he uses a visual to create said conversation featuring Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1 tracks “Lamborghini Angels,” “ITAL (Roses),” and “Audubon Ballroom.”
The three-part treatment is definitely layered and requires much attention. In the opening portion, we see a kaleidoscope slide show of sorts showing images of things negatively affecting the culture. This includes tempting women, material objects, guns, and of course, drugs.
What follows is a snowball effect, which the prolific Chicago native expounds on throughout the video.
Fiasco communicated similar sentiments in real time while speaking at a recent high school graduation in his hometown.
“Congratulations, you have graduated from one of the most terrible, substandard school systems in the entire world,” kicked off a powerful speech that detailed the importance of transitioning into manhood.
