One of Detroit’s finest MCs in Guilty Simpson connected with Philadelphia producer Small Professor to create Higway Robbery, due to release September 24. With a little over two weeks to go before that date, the duo debut the album’s first single “On The Run.”

The beat is hard, the bars are harder, and DJ Revolution handles the cuts. Simpson approaches the track with a verse built on a choppy flow that feels conversational.

“I flash like a young gun, William H. Bonney/Had to have it when the record label wouldn’t sign me/Now I got a deal and I’m still grimy,” spits the Motor City lyricists.

Listeners can expect more potent lyrics on Highway Robbery, which features 10 songs in total. Statik Selektah, Boldy James, and AG will make guest appearances. Listen to “On The Run” below.
