Civil rights activist and MSNBC‘s PoliticsNation host Rev. Al Sharpton makes his latest entry into the literary world with his upcoming third book, The Rejected Stone: Al Sharpton And The Path To American Leadership.

A trailer from Rev. Sharpton’s National Action Network was released Thursday (September 12), serving as a visual introduction for the book. Slick in presentation, the video opens up with a behind the scenes look at the photo shoot for the book’s cover while Rev. Sharpton explained the purpose of the title and what he hopes it achieves.

“The title of the book, The Rejected Stone, came from a biblical passage in St. Luke, and I thought about how my own evolution,” says Rev. Sharpton. “And a lot of people in places around the world. President Obama, Michael Jackson – we all are rejected stones.”

Rev. Sharpton added, “We all are people that at the beginning lives or careers, people would never have expected us to make an impact at all. And I think it has become a society that where the former rejects have become the ones that are changing the paradigm. I wanted to tell anecdotes of my story, to tell the average person I don’t care how people view you as an individual, if you accept yourself, you can make a difference.”

The book is slated for an October 8 release and will be published by Massenburg Media/Cash Money Content/Atria.
