Boom-bap rap is alive an well on this new release from Pro Era’s CJ Fly. Titled “Sadderdaze,” the track features another worthy lyricist in Ab-Soul.

The song features the horn sample from Brother to Brother’s “Hey, What’s That You Say” that Jay Z popularized on Reasonable Doubt‘s “Friend or Foe.” Brooklyn’s clearly on the mind, as CJ Fly kicks a pair of verses that flexes an array of flows.

“Lost in this world still looking for myself/ Ain’t looking for no help nor a book up on the shelf/ I’ve got no one to tell, so I might as well rebel/ F**k it, I’ll go to hell but it beats being in jail,” chants the chorus.

“Sadderdaze” will appear on CJ Fly’s forthcoming project, Thee Way Eye See It, due out October 4. Fans can also catch the young MC on the 30-city Smokers Club Tour.
