Before you head out for a well deserved drink (if you’re 21 or over) to celebrate the weekend, get your dosage of quality Hip-Hop via The Wrap Up: Hip-Hop Wired’s Top 10 Songs Of The Week.
In this edition, we included a list of tracks that could be considered “easy listening” and a bunch of others that provide that raw, uncut lyricism we’re sure you all love.
All coasts are properly represented, as we see an unlikely pair pay homage to one of the most prolific Harlem rappers of recent memory. We also see a newcomer tap his established labelmates for a few potent verses on an unexpected remix. And finally, a certain Brooklyn MC kicks the best story you’ll hear this week on wax.
That’s enough for the clues, though. All can be revealed by simply clicking through the gallery on the following pages.

TRPL BLK ft. Danny Brown – “Max B”
The song’s title isn’t for sh*ts and giggles. TRPL actually does a damn good impression of the Bigavel. That alone made this worthy of a look.
Lloyd Banks ft. Raekwon – “Drop a Diamond”
The cast alone infers that you’ll hear lyricism at its finest. The veteran pair certainly deliver.
PARTYNEXTDOOR – Muse
Drake’s resident crooner continues his wave of quality material with this melodic cut.
Jean Grae – “F**kery Level 3000”
Jean Greasy is a superior lyricist if we’ve ever seen one. You might as well hit Rap Genius here, because you’ll need it for this one.
DJ Khaled ft. J. Cole & Bas – “Hells Kitchen”
Light skinned Jermaine delivers a mean verse on this one.
Curren$y ft. Lil Wayne & Birdman – “442”
Spitta reaches out to his old Cash Money brethren on this potent tune.
Blu & Nottz ft. ANTHM, Homeboy Sandman, Sene & Johaz – “Crooks in Castles”
We’re oh so excited for Blu and Nottz’ Gods In The Spirit EP. See why above.
MellowHigh (Hodgy Beats & Domo Genesis) – “Extinguisher”
We can never be mad at new bars from this Odd Future subsect. By the way, their self-titled LP drops October 31.
Rapsody – “Mass Hysteria” (Prod. by 9th Wonder)
The fact that Erykah Badu’s “Other Side Of The Game” is sampled here is fitting, because that’s certainly what the North Carolina MC provides — game.
Isaiah Rashad ft. Jay Rock & ScHoolBoy Q – “I Shot You Down (Remix)”
TDE’s newcomer already had a gem with this one, but Jay Rock and, more particularly, ScHoolboy take it over the top.
