Just when you thought things couldn’t get any better for Pharrell Williams, the legendary producer signed on the dotted line with Columbia Records. This record deal promises a solo album from the Neptune in 2014.

Be excited. Skateboard P’s feel-good song “Happy” (which was the soundtrack for the first ever 24 hour music video) will be the leading single from the project.

2013 was arguably one of the best years in Pharrell’s career. We witnessed Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” and Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” occupy the top of the charts, and ultimately reaffirm P’s ability to craft a pop hit. Separately, obscure records like songs he produced on Earl Sweatshirt’s Doris LP, Tyler, The Creator’s WOLF, and Pusha T’s My Name Is My Name were also a testament to his sharpness behind the boards.

Columbia Records has also been on a roll as of late, as their acquisition of Pharrell follows news that they signed T.I. The label also released Beyoncé’s surprise album.

At this time, Pharrell’s next body of work doesn’t have a release date.
