French Montana learned early on his career that the only way a rapper can get ahead in the game is to diversify their audience.

His debut album Excuse My French featured hardcore Hip-Hop acts such as Lil Wayne and Raekwon spliced in between collabos with R&B acts in Ne-Yo and Jeremih.

For the year 2014, he’s upping his ante and going big with those he chooses to be guilty by association with.

The “Bust It Open” rapper dropped his Coke Boys 4 mixtape last week and he’s prepping his Mac & Cheese 4 edition to be a studio album opposed to the free mixtape format the other three followed.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, he tells Sowmya Krishnamurthy that it’s going to be like a day one Montana experience.

“I’m going back to the essence on this album,” he tells Rolling Stone. “We’re giving the fans that grew up on me what they want. When we made the other music, it was just to be a little different and not do the same thing over.”

He also discussed his song titled “Nightmare,” featuring Macklemore who is also coming off a big year and his plans to appear on Rick Ross’ much-delayed Mastermind album.

Rappers ranging from Meek Mill to Juicy J have being ringing in their resolutions with promises of new albums already but everyone knows that talk is cheap and actual releases bring in the show money.
