Could there be trouble over at The Queen Latifah Show? The talk show hosted by rapper/singer/actress Queen Latifah recently laid off staffers, citing budget concerns.

Reports Page Six:

“The Queen Latifah Show” let go of staffers Thursday to cut costs as the chatfest is “hugely over budget,” sources said.

While some put the number of layoffs as high as 20, an insider insisted there were only five. Despite staffing issues, Latifah’s future looks bright — the daytime show was renewed for a second season. A Latifah rep told us, “As with any show . . . we have experienced turnover in a small number of positions in response to the creative evolution of the show, most of which have since been filled.”

According to the Los Angeles Times, the Queen Latifah Show debuted in September 2013 with a solid 1.7 rating; enough to be just behind Katie Couric’s talk show and the no. 1 new talk show ahead of Bethenny Frankel’s.
