ScHoolboy Q easily has one of the most anticipated albums of 2014 in Oxymoron. Hip-Hop Wired recently spoke the self-described “gangta rapper” about his upcoming debut, TDE planning to release six projects this year, and more. “The new and improved gangsta rap is me,” Q said on himself and the sound of Oxymoron. “I’m just going to bring that new style, that new funk to the game. It’s unexplainable until you can hear it, because I can explain it, and ya’ll will be like, ‘I don’t know what the f**k he talking about. But you got to listen to the album.”

Q also spoke on a track called “His & Her Friend,” featuring TDE’s newly recruited songstress SZA. “I’m talking as the oxy pill and she’s basically the girl that’s addicted to it,” he revealed. This shouldn’t be surprising, considering that the Los Angeles rapper is admittedly a huge Nas fan. “His & Her” fiend sounds like an ode to the Queens MC’s “I Gave You Power” from his 1996 album It Was Written.

Oxymoron releases February 25. From it, we’ve received tracks like “Break The Bank,” “Man Of The Year,” and “Yay Yay.” Hear ScHoolboy Q speak more on the aforementioned topics, as well as Kendrick Lamar’s incite on his upcoming LP, in the interview below.
