Art and Hip-Hop are meeting in the middle quite often these days. But the affluent art references rappers spew and rap favorites getting illustrated as famous cartoon characters are now old news; it’s French artist David Redon’s time now.
Redon used his graphic design talents to create the Ads Libitum Tumblr, on which he posts reworked versions of classic advertisements featuring images of rap stars. You’ve never seen the likes of Kanye West appear as the iconic “Rosie the Riveter” until now. Drake, Jay Z, Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G., and tons of others also received an artistic treatment.
