While most of the entertainment world murmured over the 2014 MTV Movie Awards this past weekend (and all the struggle that came along with it), the good folks over at The United Negro College Fund, BET and Centric were going the distance in brightening the future of our young leaders with their “An Evening Of Stars” 2014 event in Atlanta.
Yes, this is the same event where Jill Scott inhaled online traffic with her uncanny working of a black dress, yet there were plenty of other main attractions to that boosted the 35th annual gala. Scholarships were presented young adults–a.k.a. “Rising Stars” to either help with their advancement in college or to get them there in the first place. Among the presenters were the Big Snoop Dogg, Usher, and Trey Songz.
The pool of talent on hand was equally impressive as Songz-alleged rival, August Alsina, Marsha Ambrosius and naturally, Ms. Scott brought down the house. Funnyman turned slim funnyman Anthony Anderson also returned as master of the ceremony for the second straight year.
Although it aired up against the MTV circus, fans will get their chance to see nobility and Black excellence once again if they missed it. The show will re-air on May 31 and June 1 on BET in congruence with the local listing times.
