Take this as a final statement from Scandal creator Shonda Rhimes: Columbus Short will not be replaced. This of course means that Short’s character, Harrison Wright, was likely killed in the season finale (or maybe he’ll be written out in some other fashion).

Rhimes tweeted the update yesterday  (May 7) after Deadline.com ran a story announcing ABC actor Eric West as the new Harrison. The site got the information from a news release.

“I’ve never heard of Eric West,” Rhimes wrote. “Harrison is not being recast EVER. How about reporters CHECK THEIR SOURCES before running with a story? Um, @Deadline? Handle yourself.”

Deadline now claims the story was an “elaborate hoax, which was very unfortunate.”

Short got the boot from Scandal about a week after he allegedly threatened to kill his estranged wife, Tanee McCall-Short, and himself.  A judge approved a restraining order, and gave Short two hours to get his things from the home.

The 31-year-old has been arrested more than once for domestic violence, and recently tried to break into the  home he shared with Tanee and their young child.

He denies the abuse allegations.
