Freedom fighter Nelson Mandela may be gone but he certainly won’t be forgotten anytime soon. Tomorrow’s future leaders of the cause are being reminded of his omnipresence as the Nelson Mandela School in Berlin just debuted a wax figure from known other than the number one provider of the star statues, Madame Tussauds.
The primary/secondary school has been standing since 2000 and excels in teaching children how to be multi-lingual. As for Madame Tussauds, it isn’t their first foray with the South African icon, who is renoun for not losing his resolve even after 27 years in prison. They have a similar statue standing in their London exhibition.
Students were able to nestle up to the figure and take pictures with their cell phones. According to Ruptley TV, one 5th grader was quoted in German saying, “It’s super cool [the statue], it’s a really cool feeling because you can feel him close and it’s really a beautiful feeling.”
