Popular L.A. radio host and one of HipHopWired’s former DJs of the Week, DJ Skee, is using his experience and Hip-Hop knowledge for good.

The SkeeTV founder has been named the Hip-Hop ambassador for After-School-All-Stars Los Angeles, a charity founded by California’s Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger .

The goal of the charity is to reduce drug use, crime and violence; while increasing the safety of students in the inner city after school hours.

Speaking on his involvement with the program DJ Skee released a statement saying,

“Being involved with the kids in the After-School All-Stars, Los Angeles programs brings things full circle. Hip-hop originates from the communities that these students come from.  Hip-hop is a big part of their culture…and to teach them the positive aspects of the industry; that actual careers exist within the industry; that lead industry figures are devoted to giving back to the community…it gives them the type of exposure needed to take the hip-hop culture on a positive path.  These kids are the future of hip-hop.”

ASAS-LA is offering students in the L.A. area comprehensive hip-hop dance programs and safe learning environments to receive free music training away from the dangers of drugs and gang life.

DJ Skee will be joined in his fight to save the youth by Kobe Bryant, ASAS-LA’s  National Celebrity Ambassador.
