“King Of The Fall” is more than some twisted, egocentric term of endearment for The Weeknd. It’s the title of the singer–songwriter’s upcoming tour and the accompanying single he released last night.

Abel’s voice almost sounds like an instrument that fits right into the groove of the track’s stripped down production. Synths and atmospheric chords create a sonically soothing palette, while The Weeknd gets some things off of his chest. At one point, he critiques artists who mimic his sound, though he mentions no names.

“And these the motherf*ckers that they package/ Their new sh*t always sounding like my past sh*t,” The Weeknd sings. In the same successive couplets, he mentions that he’s not attached to any other artist. It’s unclear, but this could be a jab at OVO Sound’s PARTYNEXTDOOR.
