Minnesota Timberwolves small forward Robbie Hummel must have really wanted some publicity and he used the game of Hip-Hop to troll the entire universe.
From out of nowhere yesterday, August 28, the two-year NBA player out of Purdue University convincingly announced his attentions to moonlight as a rapper. “Excited to announce that I’ve been in the studio grinding and have finally finished my first hip hop studio album, ROB: Road to Redemption. Look for it in stores and on iTunes this fall. #getmysnareup #turnmyheadphonesup!!!,” he tweeted.
NBA hoopers entering the rap arena is nothing new but if Hummel accomplished anything with his revelation, it was getting the world record for shortest-lived rap career. After tweeting up some struggle bars about ACL injuries and requesting features from 50 Cent and Just Blaze, he quickly announced his retirement in less than 24 hours saying, “I’m sorry to say but I feel I have accomplished all I can in the hip hop game…and am announcing my retirement effective immediately.”
We know he didn’t make the cover of this year’s NBA Live so what could the PR stunt be about? Boredom, most likely.
Take a look at the chain of events from Hummel’s rap career he’ll likely tell his grandchildren about.
