Although Robert Downey, Jr. has the entertainment world by the balls in his Iron Man suit, his leading role as the famed character is being put on ice. Indefinitely.

In a new interview with Variety, Downey made it perfectly clear that there is no Iron Man 4 film on the horizon.

“There isn’t one in the pipe,” the veteran actor said while out in Toronto promoting his new film, The Judge. “No, there’s no plan for a fourth ‘Iron Man.’”

While the news may sound devastating for fans of wildly popular superhero series, there is still a select group of Marvel characters folks may be forgetting with The Avengers.

Downey will not only appear as Starks/Iron Man in the upcoming Age of Ultron, but he’s contractually signed on for its sequel as well. Given the time in between the aforementioned films (2015 and 2018, respectively), chances are Marvel Studios will have developed a script to give the emboldened crime fighter some much-needed alone time.
