Over 4.8 million in the Asia-Pacific region have AIDS, 350,000 newly infected, and 250,000 deaths that year. Specifically, in India where the population is 1 billion, 2.3 million people have HIV/AIDS.
Countries like Cambodia have seen a decline in cases, while Japan broke its own record last year with 484 new HIV cases, a number still relatively small than other areas of Asia.
