2.3 million people in Western and Central Europe are living with HIV/AIDS, with 88,000 newly infected, and 27,000 AIDS related deaths, in 2013. Portugal has the highest rates of HIV/AIDS at 0.7 percent of the population, followed by Austria, France, Italy and Spain.
