“So y’all gonna try again? That’s what we gonna do?”
Those words made up Marshawn Lynch’s opening statements on his post game interview following his Seattle Seahawks divisional round win over the Carolina Panthers. The notoriously reluctant running back decided to play along with the media but still didn’t give much a summary on his quiet performance that resulted in 0 touchdowns on 59 yards rushing on 14 carries. Especially since he conducted the interview with his mouth hidden in a balaclava the entire time.
“I’m thankful, that’s all I can say,” he responded to the multitude of questions hurled his way. This included one reporter’s shrewd question of “What song were you playing on the way to the game?” as he undoubtedly picked up on O.T. Genasis’ “Coco” blaring in the background.
“I’m thankful,” was the response.
Lynch carefully counted the clock to the NFL mandated :90 second mark and hightailed out of the locker room, not without thanking all the journalists for their efforts, of course. Earlier in the year, he was fined $50,000 for not cooperating with the media and while he made sure not to make that costly mistake again, he wasn’t exactly a source for a viable quote either.
