Even the most gangsta of rappers get all the way in their feelings when it comes to women…and the badder the b*tch, the harder the battle.
While women, sadly, don’t have much more of a role in Hip-Hop today than being the girlfriend/wife/side-chick of a famous rapper (though, thankfully, that is slowly but surely changing), the following women have made enough of an impact on the Hip-Hop cultural landscape to merit inclusion in this list…because their mere presence sparked beef. Here, then, is our list of Hip-Hop Helens of Troy.

15. Faith Evans (Tupac vs. Biggie)
The R&B songstress’s career was completely overshadowed by Tupac’s now-classic diss track, “Hit ‘Em Up,” in which he claimed to have “unlawful carnal knowledge” of Biggie’s wife. Of course, as we all know, this beef ended in a hail of gunfire and tragedy, but for a brief moment in time, the East Coast-West Coast rap feud got extremely personal thanks to a woman.
14. Kim Kardashian West (Kanye West vs. Ray J)
Hip-Hop’s most high-profile power couple is certainly not immune to slander. Ever since she dared to move on with her life, the reality star-turned-Vogue cover model has had ex-boyfriend/America’s favorite punchline Ray J nipping at her heels, desperate for relevance (this from a man who slept with a girl named “Fettucini”…you have no room to talk, fam), and most obnoxiously in a diss track called “I Hit It First.” Finally, Kanye West—never one to pass up the opportunity to throw some shade—took his shot at Brandy’s little brother during his speech at the BET Honors. Meow!
13. Rihanna (Drake vs. Chris Brown)
The Barbadian beauty certainly has that pum-pum-pow, because never in the history of Hip-Hop have two men beefed as hard over a woman as these two have over the “Umbrella” singer. This “beef” culminated in a knock-down, drag-out brawl in New York’s WIP nightclub that resulted in Chris getting chin-checked by the Canadian singer (though, sadly, no diss tracks from either side…which would have made this hilarious).

12. Karreuche Tran (Drake vs. Chris Brown)
Speaking of Drake & Chris Brown, these two didn’t stop beefing after Rihanna. The beef roared back to life late last month when Chris Brown called out Karreuche (and, seriously — what does this woman do for a living? Anyone? Someone?) for cheating on him while he was locked up…with the “Marvin’s Room” singer. Damn, Drake…raise your standards, PLEASE!

11. Coco (Ice-T vs. AP.9)
Though no one would consider Ice-T “gangsta” anymore, it’s safe to say we all thought he was simply adorable for how in love he was with his wife, booty model Nicole “Coco” Austin. That all changed when rapper AP.9 (who?) didn’t follow the what-happens-in-Vegas adage and went public with his “torrid” affair with Detective Tutuola’s dearly beloved…including claims that she bought him a car with Ice-T’s money. (Pimp Karma Game PROPER!) Though rumors began to surface that the “Colors” rapper was divorcing his dime of a wife as a result of this affair, Ice-T (real name: Tracy Marrow) stated that it was all “just a rumor” and the duo are still married…for now.
10. Kim Osorio (Eminem vs. Benzino)
In the 1990’s, Kim Osorio made history by becoming the first female editor of the once-infalliable The Source magazine. During her tenure with the magazine — as she later revealed in her autobiography Straight from the Source — she had relationships with 50 Cent and Nas (not at the same time). To her credit, her relationships with these rappers didn’t affect her reviews of the rappers and/or their albums…but they became fodder for Eminem’s murderous diss tracks against Benzino, who has also made history by being the first struggle rapper in existence (for those too young to remember, he used his status as the magazine’s publisher to give his struggle tapes the once-coveted “5 Mics”). This war single-handedly drove The Source into the financial — and cultural — graveyard, where it has struggled for its once-glory days ever since.
9. Shantel Jackson (Nelly vs. Floyd Mayweather)
Granted, Floyd Mayweather isn’t a rapper, but he has — up until recently — had no problems with sneak-dissing rappers like T.I. and 50 Cent(for reasons that only make sense to him, God bless him). That all changed when rapper-turned-Honey-Nut-Cheerios spokesman Nelly began dating Shantel Jackson, better known as Floyd Mayweather’s ex-fiancee. Around the same time that the St. Lunatics rapper dropped “Thanks to my Ex,” he began taking shots at “Money” Mayweather, though he admitted it was hard to diss the as-of-now undefeated boxer because “it’s kind of hard talking to a guy who hasn’t graduated from high school.” Ouch!
8. Carmen Bryan (Nas vs. Jay-Z)
This previously-unknown woman sparked a feud between two NY Hip-Hop legends that literally spanned years, and resulted in some of the best diss tracks being traded back and forth between Mr. Beyonce Knowles and Kelis’s ex-husband. For “Ether” alone, we need to thank Carmen Bryan for contributing her sex fluids to the Hip-Hop landscape. You go, girl!
7. Mariah Carey (Nick Cannon vs. Eminem)
At this point, we all know that Eminem can’t let anything go, and starting ANY sort of beef with him will end in tears. Would it be that Mariah Carey got the memo — the brief time that she dated Marshall Mathers would have been lost to the annals of history had Mariah Carey not released the song, “Obsessed,” in which she details how the “Slim Shady” rapper did her wrong. That was enough to set off countless disses against the diva songstress, including a slam in “Superman.” When she married her now ex-husband Nick Cannon, he stepped into the ring to defend his wife’s honor, as any good husband is wont to do. The result? Eminem’s diss track “The Warning.” This is not going to end well!
6. Amber Rose (Wiz Khalifa vs. Kanye West)
Prior to becoming Mr. Kim Kardashian, Kanye West dated stripper-turned-model Amber Rose, who always seemed pleasant enough to deal with. When West & Rose’s very public relationship ended just as publicly, West found himself a wife in Kim Kardashian, while rapper Wiz Khalifa jumped the broom with Amber Rose. You would think that this would be enough to leave well enough alone, but Kanye took a quick swipe at Wiz on a lyric in “Theraflu,” leaving the “Black & Yellow” rapper “very surprised.”
5. Tatted Up Holly (50 Cent vs. ASAP Rocky)
This former bartender is the newest entry into the Hip-Hop Helen of Troy countdown. After she put 50 on blast over claims that he physically abused her, ASAP Rocky allegedly slid into her social media DMs. That caused 50 to go all the way off once again, even referencing the aforementioned Wiz & Kanye beef. But, never fear: Trey Songz even took to social media to take up the cause against 50…when you should know better, Tremaine.

4. Tahiry (Joe Budden vs. Hollow Da Don)
In a rap battle that caused Hollow Da Don to permanently cement his position as the rapper to beat in battle — even Eminem, reportedly, was impressed — he took “Pump It Up” rapper Joe Budden to task for (allegedly) abusing his “Love & Hip-Hop: New York” co-star Tahiry during the entirety of their tumultuous nine-year relationship. “I kinda figured that, with Tahiry, the way he be treating her / spreading her business on social media / even beating her,” he rapped, before stopping the clock and screaming in his face, “you ever hit a woman in your life, I’ll f*ck you up you f*ggot. Do that sh*t in front of me, you p*ssy. Beating on women, you bitch ass n*gga. You’re a f*ggot. You hit a woman, I’ll f*ck you up.”

3. Tia Kemp (50 Cent vs. Rick Ross)
The G-Unit general and the former corrections officer never liked each other, and their beef reached a fever pitch when 50 Cent threw Ross’s baby mama, Tia Kemp, into the mix. First, he photographed her and put her on the cover of Smooth Magazine…then, he took her on a shopping spree…and he capped off his total violation of Ross’s life when he assumed his “Pimpin’ Curly” persona and narrated her sex tape with a “G-Unit affiliate” (whose name has yet to be revealed). Lawsuits be damned — if 50 was going to go out, he was going out in a blaze of glory.
2. Beyonce (Lil’Wayne vs. Jay-Z)
The embattled YMCMB rapper and the Brooklyn titan have always had a complicated history — they alternately go through periods of “barely tolerating each other” and “despising each other’s existence.” Supposedly, their love-hate relationship can be traced back to Beyonce, who — during her Destiny’s Child days — recruited Lil’Wayne and T.I. to contribute bars on one of the group’s last hits, “Soldier.” Since then, the two have traded verbal barbs in countless songs — notably, in Jay-Z’s hit with Kanye West “HAM” (where he references “Baby’s money”) and Lil’Wayne’s “Best Rapper Alive” off of Tha Carter II.
1. Karrine Steffans (Damn Near Everybody)
You have to admit it, however begrudingly—Karrine Steffans has caused countless beefs between countless rappers and their wives/girlfriends/baby mamas. She even managed to get her talons into Christina Milian over—of all people—Lil’ Wayne. But the artist formerly known as Superhead has turned her fellatio skills into a cottage industry, God bless her…even if it did give us the most bizarre Tweets about Lil’Wayne in history. However, rappers, take heed: trying to diss people on the basis of whether or not they smashed Karrine is like beefing over the last urinal available in the Barclay’s Center—no matter who got in there first, you still can smell the dude that was there last, so just shut up about it.
