Emerging Italian fashion designer Claudio Cutugno thought it’d be a grand idea to send his models down the runway in blackface during Milan Fashion Week.
Due to his seemingly racist act, Cutugno received backlash from several Twitter followers.
Still, he’s yet to issue a statement on behalf of his latest work.
TheGrio reports:
Cutugno has yet to address the backlash, but according to the E! News, his collection was inspired by the artist Emilio Isgrò, who regularly uses bees in his work. Supposedly, the sparkly blackface is supposed to look like bees are swarming on the models’ faces.
But what say you? Is it just sparkly art? Or does the all-black themed spectacle contain racial undertones?
