A recent study at the University of Sydney statistically proved that a rapper is most likely to die from murder more than anything else.
With the Hip-Hop community still in a state of shock following the fatal shooting of Chinx, all anyone can do is swallow the report for the unfortunate truth that it is.
The Coke Boys aren’t the first prominent rap crew forced to regroup after a member is dealt a violent end (although the world is praying for some sort of resolution).
Scroll through the gallery to see a list of murdered rappers whose passing greatly affected the state of Hip-Hop.

Junior M.A.F.I.A.
Lil Kim kept the unity going several years after The Notorious B.I.G. was gunned down but all hopes for a reunion went down the toilet when Lil Cease took the stand against the Queen Bee, helping send her to jail for a year.

Outlawz
Despite losing both Tupac Shakur and Yaki Kadafi to gun violence in a span of months, the Outlawz released plenty of albums last decade, proving that they were still thick as thieves (in multiple variations).
Run-DMC
The influential Kings from Queens haven’t released an album since Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell was murdered on October 30, 2002, but Rev. Run and DMC still make appearances together when need be.

Cali Swag District
You can still hear “Teach Me How to Dougie” five years after it was released but unfortunately you won’t see song creators Montae “M-Bone” Talbert and Cahron “JayAre” Childs. Talbert was murdered (in Cali) on May 15, 2011 and Childs died last year from complicatons from sickle cell anemia.
D.I.T.C.
Lamont “Big L” Coleman didn’t get to enjoy a sliver of the success he received following his unsolved murder on February 15, 1999, but his Diggin in the Crates posse managed to preserve his legacy.
Boogie Down Productions
DJ Scott La Rock met a violent death on August 12, 1987 when he tried to peacefully diffuse an altercation in the Bronx. KRS-One released four more albums under the BDP moniker before officially going solo in 1995.
The Lost Boyz
Although he wasn’t exactly integral to the group’s musical success, Raymond “Freaky Tah” Rogers was the backbone of the group and his murder on March 28, 1999 also proved to be deflating for his group. They released their LB IV Life LP later that year and called it quits shortly after.
Brick Squad Monolopy
The fact that Mario Hamilton a.k.a. Slim Dunkin was murdered while arguing over candy is still a hard truth to face but Waka Flocka Flame is still trucking right along.

D-12
Eminem famously sunk into a state of drug-fueled depression when his right-hand man, DeShaun “Proof” Holton was killed in Detroit on April 11, 2006 but he’s since bounced back after rehab. As for D-12, they still loosely operate effectively but it’s obvious it will never be the same again.
