Lean and mean is the best way to describe Kevin Durant‘s just officially unveiled new signature shoe, the Nike KD 8.
Designed by Leo Chang, the KD 8 touts a pair of features never seen in a Nike basketball shoe before—a full-length articulated Zoom Air unit and a Flyweave upper.
“It is the most technically precise shoe we’ve designed for Kevin. Flyweave is optimal for his multidimensional skillset and footwork as he jumps, cuts, jabs and accelerates,” said Chang via a press release.
The shoe’s design also implement a homage to the sabre tooth tiger, which Durant has tattooed on his lower leg. The heel design is based on the Ice Age predator’s fangs.
The initial colorways are KD 8 V8 (available July 11) and July 4th (available June 27). The former, which is matte red, is inspired by Durant’s red Camaro and the latter features a firework inspired, red, white and blue pattern implemented into the Flyweave upper.
