Dr. Dre: 2004 VIBE Awards
The 2004 VIBE Awards are infamous for some nutjob sucker punching Dr. Dre and G-Unit’s Young Buck retaliating by shanking said nutjob with some formal dinner cutlery.

Time will tell if Mo’Nique was truly blackballed for her handling of the Precious Oscar campaign, but she historically put it down by name-checking Hattie McDaniel and rocking white gardenias in her hair.
Suge Knight: 1995 Source Awards
“Don’t have to worry about the executive producer trying to be all in the videos…all in the records, dancing—come to Death Row…”
Kanye West: 2009 MTV VMAs
Yeezy can trace his more recent turn up mentality and the decline of his mainstream popularity to bumrushing Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMAs and proclaiming Beyonce had “the greatest video of all time.”
Halle Berry: 2002 Oscar Awards
No big deal…just Halle Berry becoming the first African American woman ever to receive an Academy Award for her role as Leticia Musgrove in Monster’s Ball.
Viola Davis: 2015 Emmy Awards
If you want to scare a room full of conservative folks and their sponsors, let Viola Davis get on stage, make history, and start speaking truth to power with a Harriet Tubman quote. The best part was arguably Taraji P. Henson giving her a heartfelt hug and co-signing the whole speech.
ODB: 1998 GRAMMY Awards
From kissing Erykah Badu on the cheek, to throwing shade at Puff, ODB ran the complete gamut of going ham at an award show. Remember, Wu-Tang is for the children.
Denzel Washington: 2002 Oscar Awards
Denzel was only the second black man to take home an Oscar for Best Actor based on his role in Training Day. Seeing Denzel and Halle get their overdue awards during the same year was priceless.
Common and John Legend: 2015 Golden Globe Awards
Comm and John Legend got the trophy for “Glory,” and Chrissy Teigen became a meme for her Golden Globes cry face. The Internet was the real winner here.
Kanye West: 2015 MTV VMAs
Not only did Kanye and Taylor make amends, we got to be bombarded with all this nonsense about Yeezy running for president n 2020.
Lil Mama: 2009 MTV VMAs
While Jay Z and Alicia Keys had an “Empire State Of Mind,” Lil Mama appeared to lose hers and bumrush the stage. The old Jay Z would’ve mushed her.
Beyoncé And Blue Ivy Carter: 2011 MTV VMAs
When Beyoncé confirmed she was pregnant while performing “Love On Top,” we got what was presumably the first of many award show moments featuring Bey and Blue Ivy.
