A 14-year-old Texas teen is believed to have acted alone in the murder investigation of his mother in the city of La Marque, which is approximately 50 miles south of Houston.

The decomposed body of Nita Mosely was found over the weekend by a suspecting neighbor. She was also four months pregnant.

Reports Click2Houston:

Police said the teen was found Sunday evening in the Houston area. Officials said the boy was taken to the police station, where he was interviewed and charged with first-degree murder. It is believed that he acted alone, police said.

A neighbor told police that he hadn’t heard from or seen his neighbor in the 2800 block of Fannin Street near Bonham Street in nearly five days and saw her front door open on his way home from the grocery store. He said he got worried and decided to check on her.

“Saturday morning, when I drive by and I saw the door open, that’s when I figured something was wrong,” the man said. “I thought maybe someone had broken in the house or something, and that’s when I found the unfortunate event that happened.”

The neighbor said he discovered Nita Moseley’s body on the kitchen floor.

“Apparently he (her son) got really good grades,” he said. “Smart kid, wanted to play football.”

He said Moseley, 33, was also expecting another child.

“She was four months’ pregnant,” the neighbor said. “She was pretty happy-go-lucky. Didn’t have a lot of drama in her life.”

Moseley’s body had been inside the house for several days, according to police.

If the boy did indeed do it, may he inhabit adult prison with cellmates who are rather fond of his presence.
