Jelani Maraj, the brother of rap superstar Nicki Minaj, has been battling accusations that he raped a 12-year-old girl. Minaj, who handled a $100,000 bail payment for her brother to secure his release from jail, posted a group selfie featuring her brother on Wednesday.
Minaj, born Onika Maraj, posted the photo via her popular Instagram account with the caption “Bowling con mi familia” and featuring several other individuals. The rapper’s brother appears in the background with a taller man’s hand around his shoulder for the shot.
Earlier this month, Nicki’s brother was charged with first-degree rape and first-degree sexual conduct with the unnamed girl. Other sources state that Maraj had been abusing the girl for some time and that his Dec. 1 arrest happened the day after he raped the alleged victim.
Minaj has been very supportive of her older brother and even paid for his summer wedding. The bond between the 33-year-old Minaj and 37-years-old Maraj seems to still be intact, although she has not addressed the accusations publicly.
