The death of legendary street and mixed martial arts fighter Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson naturally has rocked the sports community who viewed Slice as a valued member of its fraternity. Hip-Hop celebrities too are remembering the fearsome fist slinger with moving tributes across social media.

Slice was a massive force of nature and had swift hands for a man of his size. The prowess he displayed in the streets, however, differed from the discipline form of fighting found within MMA. Still, his imposing look and impressive physique made Slice an undeniable draw each time he laced them up.

The fighter was also the subject of Hip-Hop songs, with the late Sean Price naming his 2009 project, Kimbo Price, after the slugger. Via a series of popular YouTube videos, Slice became a viral sensation and a shoe-in for the octagon because of his street-level dominance.

Slice died at the age of 42 for reasons that look to be related to a heart attack. A medical examination is still underway.
