Lost in the commotion of the BET Awards was the first peek at the network’s upcoming mini-series biopic on New Edition. The trailer looks dope.

The network unveiled the trailer during the BET Awards. Ever since it was announced that seasoned actors like Wood Harris and Duane Martin would be appearing in the flick, fans began the countdown to when they would see some images and they are finally here.

The New Edition Movie will be a three-part mini-series that chronicles the group’s layered history starting from day one in Boston. Opening scenes gives us a look at New Edition in their earliest days when their former manager Brooke Payne first crowned them with the name. From there we get brief glimpses into their rapid rise to stardom and Bobby Brown being Bobby Brown. The vote to replace Brown with Johnny Gill and then the Bell Biv Devoe era is also covered.

Of course, we have some drama, fight scenes and even some gunplay involved? This trailer looks like it’s leaving no stone unturned. The film is being co-produced by Payne all of the members so it should be accurate.

The cast also includes Michael Rapaport, Tank, Bre-Z [from Empire], Bryshere Y. Gray, Luke James, La La Anthony, Monica Calhoun and Lisa Nicole Carson.

No air date yet for the new edition movie. All we know is that it is “coming soon.”
