The 2016 BET Awards aired Sunday night (June 26) and is still the topic of much discussion among viewers for a variety of positive and negative reasons. However, the somber tone in the air regarding the loss of the legendary Prince shifted with a series of moving tributes by current stars and some of the Minnesota superstar’s past collaborators.
While we previously reported on The Legendary Roots Crew and Erykah Badu and Bilal’s stirring tribute to the Purple One, there were a handful of others throughout the course of the night. It would have been a travesty if the awards program failed to acknowledge the impact and influence Prince had on music across several genres.
