Meek Mill has made a statement saying that he will be scaling back the gunplay in his music in the wake of the recent police shootings and Black Lives Matter movement. The Philadelphia-rapper has never been afraid to share when he’s learned or been exposed to something new. So when he had a moment of clarity amidst the civil unrest going on in America right now, he realized that he could do something in his music steer people in a certain direction. In a series of Instagram posts, Meek Mill revealed his plans to switch up the content in his music after his DC4 mixtape drops. He writes: Once I found out I wasn’t born to fail and just fall victim to a fake ass life that don’t offer shit but a jail,death i carry myself with extreme confidence and I know my value… even tho that’s where we came from and all most of us has ever experienced in life! Wake up! Don’t question my raps because it’s a life we lived and suffered from, I have a right to express my myself! BY THE WAY ….AFTER DC4 I won’t continue to rap about extreme violence!!!
