9th Wonder has been one of the more trusted and balanced voices in Hip-Hop and he’s offering a much needed perspective on the growing “new” vs. “old” civil war brewing in the game right now.

In the midst of rappers like Lil Yachty claiming not to know “five 2Pac or Biggie songs,” Kodak Black boldly comparing himself to those same legends and Lil Uzi Vert refusing to freestyle over DJ Premier beats because he is a “rock star,” many people over a certain age have decided that most of the younger generation of Hip-Hop has no respect for what came before them.

9th Wonder who teaches university level classes on Hip-Hop, has a unique perspective since he is constantly in contact with 18 year olds who are learning about the culture. In a series of tweets that started late last week, 9th urged people his age to at least try to start conversations with people younger than them instead of judging them and not considering their background.
