Tupac Shakur made the cut as a nominee for the 2017 class of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Before you say it, yes, he damn sure was a Rock star, too.

The late rapper joins a short but potent list of nominees that include Pearl Jam, Chaka Khan and Janet Jackson.

Reports Cleveland.com:

The Class of 2017 nominees are Bad Brains, Chaka Khan, Chic, Depeche Mode, Electric Light Orchestra, J. Geils Band, Jane’s Addiction, Janet Jackson, Joan Baez, Joe Tex, Journey, Kraftwerk, MC5, Pearl Jam, Steppenwolf, the Cars, the Zombies, Tupac Shakur and Yes.

Typically, five to seven of the 19 nominees – a list decided by a 29-member committee chaired by public relations guru Jon Landau and including such people as Rock Hall President and CEO Greg Harris and musicians Steven Van Zandt, Questlove, Paul Shaffer and Tom Morello – are chosen for induction.

After the balloting and voting process, the inductees into the Rock Hall will be announced in December.

Tupac—it is his first year of eligibility—and Janet Jackson have to be locks, right? Also, Kraftwerk too, #fortheculture.
