Two of Hip-Hop’s most respected MCs, Talib Kweli and Styles P, are joining forces next year for a new album and tour.

Kweli broke the news in an interview with Acton Entertainment in the UK.

“Me and Styles P got a situation. We got an album together,” says Kweli. “It’s called The Seven and that album, we’re doing a tour, The Seven Tour, that starts in January. So, I think that album will come out before my next solo album.”

Me and Styles P got a situation. We got an album together,” Kweli says. “It’s called The Seven and that album – we’re doing a tour, The Seven Tour, that starts in January. So, I think that album will come out before my next solo album.”

He added that he and Styles have recorded several songs together over the years and that he originally came up with the idea to do a tour with him so that they could knock out more songs along the way. However, when approached with the idea, Styles countered by suggesting they record an album first, then go tour.

Kweli also spoke on whether or not he thinks his former Black Star partner Mos Def, now known as Yasiin Bey is actually retiring from music. Bey has claimed that will no longer be releasing music after 2017, with his recent December 99th project being the first of a final trilogy of albums.

“I don’t know if Mos Def is really retiring. Until Yasiin Bey comes to me and says ‘I’m retiring,’ to be real with you, I went to see him in South Africa a few months back. And he did tell me he was retiring. He did say that to me. But he has said that to me before, so I don’t know how serious. I personally think, from what I know about him, that he is such a lover of music and creating music, that he will always create music. And he will always find ways to get music out to the people. I think what he’s doing is retiring from the music business, but I think he did that a long time ago.”
