Lecrae finally shook off the “Christian rapper” tag years ago by continuing to deliver dope music that could be enjoyed no matter your religion. Now that he’s poised to attract a larger audience via his deal with Columbia Records, Lecrae is playing with the big boys by getting a Ear Drummers [Mike Will Made It’s production team] beat and a Ty Dolla Sign hook for “Blessings.”
Here ‘Crae adopts a Migos-type flow, but still owns the sound as he talks about going from nothing to something, a narrative that is sure to win. The song should fit in well with the current landscape of music if given a chance. Lecrae’s fanbase will support it no doubt, now it’s up to the rest of the world to stop sleeping and join the bandwagon.
