Matt Barnes is having a tumultuous week. After engaging in pettiness with his nemesis, Derek Fisher, the NBA player turned himself into the cops and was charged with assault for his involvement in a brawl in an NYC nightclub.
Reports the New York Post:
Basketball bad boy Matt Barnes surrendered to NYPD cops on Wednesday and was booked in connection to a barroom brawl back in December, law enforcement sources said.
The hoops hothead turned himself in at the 10th Precinct station house and was issued a desk appearance ticket for misdemeanor assault — stemming from a brouhaha at Avenue nightclub in Chelsea in the early morning hours of Dec. 5.
Barnes was released without bail, and will have to show up in a Manhattan courtroom at a later date.
Barnes is being accused of choking out a 26-year-old woman at the nightspot.
In other news, the Internet believes Barnes had something to do with the theft of Derek Fisher’s championship rings.
Barnes maintains his innocence, on both fronts.
