People keep asking Migos about gay rappers [i.e. Makonnen], and they keep giving funny answers.

Migos found themselves doing a little backpedaling last month when they fumbled the way the answered a question from Rolling Stone magazine about rapper Makonnen who recently came out as gay. After saying it was “wack” that Makonnen came out after rapping about trapping, people immediately labeled the trio homophobic. That kind of press is not a good look with an album to promote, so the group came back and apologized for their remarks.

But Billboard has reopened the case. Writer Chris Martins brought up the backlash in their cover story and insisted that Migos, namely Quavo still doesn’t “get it” when it comes to gay people. When he pressed him about the backlash from his earlier comments, Quavo replied, “When [Makonnen’s] music came out I thought it was hard, so if he would’ve come out the same way…I got a record with Frank Ocean…That closes my case.”

To his credit, Quavo has also been appeared on Ellen and taken selfies with her. So obviously, he has love for gay people.

At this point, maybe the Migos should just say “no comment” the next time they’re asked about anything dealing with gay people or gay artists. Because any answer they give is going to be dissected.
