Yesterday (April 5), the Justice Department just announced that former Mexican drug lord Alfredo Beltran Leyva was sentenced to life in a U.S. prison for participating in an international narcotics trafficking conspiracy.

According to Raw Story the 46-year-old known as Mochomo, was considered “one of the Goliaths of Mexican drug traffickers” before he was arrested by Mexican Special Forces in 2008.Interestingly enough Leyva’s brothers believe that Alfredo was sold out to the authorities by

Interestingly enough Leyva’s brothers believe that Alfredo was sold out to the authorities by rival drug lord, El Chapo Guzman, who’s now currently awaiting his sentencing for drug trafficking in New York City.

In its heyday, the Beltran Leyva cartel moved weight like whales in western Mexico and rained lead showers on rivals who dared cross them.

Surprisingly enough, KTLA reports that the murderous Mexican Kingpin apologized to the judge for the “behavior that brought me here.” That apology wasn’t enough to shave a few months off a life sentence?

Aside from being sentenced to forever in prison, U.S. District Judge Richard Leon also ordered the Leyva to forfeit $529 million based on the estimate of the amount of cocaine moved from Mexico to the U.S.

If the U.S. Justice Department keeps bagging and charging these drug lords that kind of money then the US should be able to erase that national debt in no time.

Wouldn’t be surprised if El Chapo gets charged a cool billion dollars.
