Yesterday (April 12) an aspiring rapper known as JU was assaulted by a gang of men in the East Village who ended up slashing him across his face before making off into the night. To add insult to injury, JU was then kicked out of an Uber on his way to the hospital due to the blood that was gushing out of his wound.

According to DNAInfo, JU (Freeman Durden) got into a fracas with five men inside of Karma at 51 First Ave., where it’s believed that both parties had been performing.

When Durden left the hookah bar a little after 1 am he was approached by the same group of men, one of whom gave him a buck fifty across the left side of his face and dipped off before cops could be called to the scene.

After the incident, Durden tried to Uber it to the hospital but the driver kicked him out near First Ave & East Houston because of the blood that was spilling out his face.

The Brooklyn rapper then finally called an ambulance and was taken to Bellevue where he was treated and given 30 staples to his face.

As if his night couldn’t get any worse, police proceeded to arrest the injured JU due to an open warrant he had looming for trespassing. Meanwhile, his attackers are gone in the wind, for now.

Just another reminder that it’s still definitely cold in the heart of the city.
