Spirit Airlines, the low-cost airline carrier that has combated an image of being troubled in times past, has bigger issues after what happened at a Florida airport on Monday. At Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, angry passengers fought with Spirit workers and police after 11 flights with cancel amid an airline-wide strike by pilots.

TMZ reports:

The incident went down Monday at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport where a damn near riot unfolded after passengers started yelling and pounding on the counter.

Attempts by security to calm the masses failed before cops stepped in … only for cops to then get dragged into the melee. At least 3 people were reportedly arrested.

Spirit — which also had 26 flights delayed — is in the middle of a union dispute with the Airline Pilots Association and its pilots, who refused to fly out of protest.

As expected, social media documented the struggle and the slander was swift. We’ve collected what we could find on Twitter. Is anyone out there reading still willing to take a chance on Spirit Airlines after this?
