KRS-One has apologized for shouting out the wrong Beastie Boy on his song “Hip-Hop Speaks From Heaven” and will remove the track from the album.

Last week, KRS-One received some unexpected press for his new album, The World Is Mind. Early writings about the album declared it KRS’ best work in years. But then listeners pointed out that he made the mistake of shouting out the wrong Beastie Boy on the song “Hip-Hop Speaks From Heaven” where he honors deceased rappers.

On the song, he says, “Like a late fog in the mist/I see King Ad-Rock and rest in peace Nate Dogg/Their names and their natures will last, like Chris Lighty and my man Bill Blass/When it comes to hip-hop, here’s the lesson/Start praising your own people, hip-hop speaks from heaven.”

Ad-Rock is still alive. KRS got him mixed up with Adam “MCA” Yauch who passed away in 2012.

KRS apologized for the mistake on Twitter.
